A celebration of life service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, at First Baptist Church at 1275 Stuart Rd NE, Cleveland, Tenn., with Pastor Steve Morgan and Pastor Jim Gibson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the church prior to the service.Spires, 57, was an avid marathon runner, she said, and a hiker who hoped someday to complete the entire Appalachian Trail."He just wanted to do 12 miles [Sunday] or something like that. Which in his mind was an easy hike. Tim was in excellent health," said White, who's the regional project manager for Pathways to Prosperity of Southeast Tennessee, which helps place area high school students in internships with local manufacturers."Tim was one of the most tireless — yet energetic — individuals that I have known," said Bill Kilbride, president and CEO of the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce. "With a relatively small staff, he was totally dedicated to the manufacturing sector."Spires lived in Cleveland, where he served as a deacon and choir member in the First Baptist Church, according to an obituary on the Ralph Buckner Funeral Home and Crematory website.Spires was very active in the Boy Scouts of America, was a Scout Master for Troop 10, and served as the former chairman of the board for the Cherokee area council and the current BSA Area Six president. He was active in the United Way of Bradley County serving as chair of the impact committee. Spires was past president of the Cleveland Rotary Club and president of the Cleveland and Chattanooga Metropolitan YMCA.He held a B.S. in chemical engineering from the University of Cincinnati and an MBA from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. She was a wonderful, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved working in her greenhouse and garden and going to the Farmer’s Market. She loved her family and had a wonderful 49 years of marriage to a great man, Vernon Kenneth Morris, who passed away, July 10, 2000.She was a member of New Friendship Baptist Church.She was also preceded in death by her parents, Kyle Amos and Grace Amos Vinson of Church Hill; and five sisters: Bobby Amos King, Edith Amos Hanson, Edna Amos Knowles, Nellie Amos Roberts and Shirley Amos Lane.Survivors include her son, Eddie Lynn Morris and Cindy of Cleveland, her caregivers; other sons: Randal Lee Morris and Della of Charleston, Richard Eric Morris and Carolyn of Charleston and Joseph Vernon Morris of Cleveland; seven grandchildren: Austin Morris of Cleveland, Lily Morris of Cleveland, Heather Harris (Lee) of Cleveland, Nathan Morris of Calhoun, Justin Morris of Atlanta, Ga., Stephen Morris of Cleveland and Matthew Morris of Cleveland; two great-grandchildren: Savannah Harris and Blake Morris, both of Cleveland; five brothers: Tommy Amos of Church Hill, Ken Amos of Surgoinsville, Carl Amos, Jackie Amos and Paul Amos, all of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews; a very special niece and caregiver, Crystal Norris (Jimmy) of King, N.C.; and other special caregivers, Glenda Adams of Georgetown, Brenda Kyle of Georgetown, Diana Kyle of Cleveland and Della Rodie of Charleston.The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2016, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Herdis Kyle officiating.Interment will follow in Chillcutt United Methodist Church Cemetery with Austin Morris, Nathan Morris, Justin Morris, Ryan Johnson, Charles Amos and Dewayne Morris serving as pallbearers.The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.The family expresses appreciation to Dr. Renee Collins, Guardian Home Healthcare and Hearth Hospice Care.We invite you to send a message of condolence and view the Morris family guestbook at www.ralphbuckner.com.

She has been a member of Cloverleaf Missionary Baptist Church since 1987, and was the organist.Her “great love” was singing and playing Southern Gospel Songs. She sang in her first quartet at the age of 14 at Hopewell Baptist Church. She sang with others during the years, including her mother, in the churches where her daddy pastored and his radio program at WBAC. She sang five years with “The Davy Conley Trio” of Cleveland.She was a member of the DAR Chapter in Cleveland. She was the Worthy Matron 1987 at Harmony Chapter No. 143 of the Order of the Eastern Star in Cleveland.She was preceded in death by her parents, the Rev. Carl Taylor Gamble and Ruby Victoria Marr Gamble; and both set of grandparents: Robert Ernest Gamble and Mary Ona Gamble and Andy L. Marr and Lethie Virginia Marr.Survivors include two sons: Tim and his wife, Kim Goodwin, of Etowah, and Mickey and his wife, Aimee Goodwin, of Sweetwater; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren: Nathan and wife, Jamie Goodwin and their children: Taylor, LaShay and Lilly; Tiffany and her husband, Casey, and their children: Eli, Landon and Logan; Brogen Goodwin, McKinley Goodwin.The funeral will be held today, Dec. 16, 2016, at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Rev.
